“It’s like going on an adventure through a waterpark, except nature built it”
Canyoning is the sport of exploring steep, narrow waterways carved through the landscape. Depending on the trip, you may walk, scramble, swim, jump, slide, zip-line and abseil your way downstream through rainforest, waterfalls, swimming holes and towering rock walls. -
Our trips explore the Coffs Coast hinterland within Dorrigo and Bindarri National Parks. Bangalore and Urumbilum meet in Coramba, around 20 minutes north-west of Coffs Harbour. Rosewood meets at Dorrigo Rainforest Centre.
Your booking confirmation provides the exact meeting details. Alternative meeting or pickup points may be available by arrangement; contact us before your trip.
-
Bangalore welcomes adventurous beginners and does not require previous canyoning or abseiling experience. Your guides provide safety instruction, fit your equipment, manage the technical rope systems and support you throughout the tour.
Rosewood is an intermediate trip. Previous canyoning experience is recommended, and fit, capable people with relevant outdoor experience may also be suitable.
Urumbilum is an advanced, committing trip. Previous canyoning, abseiling or relevant outdoor experience is strongly recommended. Highly fit and capable participants without canyoning experience may also be suitable; contact us first to discuss your experience and confidence.
Check the full requirements on your chosen canyon page before booking.

All three trips require fitness and full mobility for swimming, scrambling over rocks, moving through uneven or slippery terrain and walking out of the canyon. Bangalore and Rosewood require good fitness; Urumbilum requires excellent fitness for a longer, more demanding day and a steep 300-metre ascent.
Choose a trip that suits everyone in your group and read the full requirements on the individual canyon page before booking.
Canyoning can be physically and mentally challenging. At times you should expect the possibility of being wet, cold, tired, uncomfortable or scared. That’s part of the adventure -
Yes. Bangalore, Rosewood and Urumbilum all require you to be able to swim and feel comfortable in deep water. Rosewood and Urumbilum also require confidence in fast-moving water.
Check the requirements on your chosen canyon page and contact us before booking if you are unsure about your swimming ability.
-
No. Jumps and slides are optional, and we will never pressure you into doing an optional challenge you are not comfortable with. Your guides will provide an alternative where one is available.
Canyons are also dynamic environments, so the features we use can change from one trip to another. Water levels, weather, debris, participant suitability, group progress and guide judgement can all affect how a canyon is run.
Your guides may modify or bypass optional jumps, slides, zip-lines or other features if they decide they are not appropriate on the day. Features shown in photos, videos or trip descriptions are not guaranteed on every trip.
-
Yes. Abseiling is an essential part of all three canyoning trips, so you need to be willing to descend on rope. Your guides explain the safety systems, provide clear instructions and support you step by step.
Bangalore does not require previous abseiling experience. Rosewood and Urumbilum are more demanding; check the experience requirements on your chosen canyon page before booking.

Canyoning is a committing adventure activity. Unlike a walk or many other tours, once you enter certain sections of a canyon it may not be possible to simply turn around or leave.
In some canyons, once a major obstacle has been descended, the safest or only practical way out is to continue through the remaining canyon until a suitable exit is reached.
Your guides are there to support you through challenging sections and can modify optional obstacles where possible. However, participants need to be prepared to complete the required sections of the canyon and the journey out.
This is why choosing a trip that matches your experience, fitness and confidence is important. If you’re unsure which canyon is right for you, contact us before booking and we’ll help you choose.
-
Feeling nervous is completely normal. Canyoning is meant to feel adventurous, and most people will find something during the day that challenges them.
Your guides are there to explain each obstacle, help you understand what to expect and support you through it. Optional challenges such as jumps and slides can be avoided where alternatives are available.
You don’t need to be fearless, but you do need to be willing to listen, follow your guide’s instructions and take part in the required sections of the canyon.
If you’re particularly nervous about heights, deep water, abseiling or anything else involved in the trip, contact us before booking. We can help you choose the canyon that best suits you.
-
